Gomathi is the daughter of Munusamy-Savitri couple from Cholavaram village next to Vellore.
He did BA from Government Arts College, Muthurangam, Vellore. He completed his 3rd year last May.

Gomathi qualified for the national competition after participating in the state tournament in the under-19 javelin event at Thanjavur. He also stood 3rd in the competition held in Jammu.
This was followed by the Indo-Nepal Athletics Championship held in Pokhara, Nepal.
In this, the javelin throwing competition for people from 17 countries including India, Sri Lanka and Nepal was held from 13th to 17th.
In the under-19 category, Gomathi from Vellore won the gold medal by throwing the javelin at a distance of 48.83 meters.
After winning the gold medal, the villager gave a warm welcome to Gomathi, who returned to her hometown with arati and beat drums. Following this, an appreciation ceremony was held for her at the Cholavaram Government Higher Secondary School where the student studied.
