The explosion causing an oil spill from a BP offshore drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico has hit the shoreline. The gulf oil spill tragedy has changed many people in the gulf coast. Watching the oil spill continue, many have begun to loose their hope for their beautiful homes and gulf coast lifestyle.
This oil spill has become the most tragic event to ever happen to the gulf region. With many years of recovery ahead, cleaning up this oil will prove to be an overwhelming event that will impact the gulf coast for many years to come. Managing the oil spill with controlled burning, dispersal and plugging have been unsuccessful. This oil spill has now become the worst oil spill in US history, surpassing the damage done by the Exxon Valdez in Alaska, as many as 40,000 barrels of oil have been flowing daily from the blown-out BP well in the gulf.
BP has said it will be unable to plug the well before August, so the spill continues in the gulf. The BP Deepwater Horizon spill has had a profound impact on Americans living in the gulf region and time is of the essence in resolving these issues.
