STIO - a many keyz - loopop mega contest
STIO's contribution to the contest of superbooth samples announced by @loopop in 2021
the styrian improvisers orchestra, a group of musicians coming mostly from the fields of jazz and avantgarde music took on the contest by performing only with the samples provided for the contest. Given that most of the perfomers are no keyboarders at all, the project became quite big, we had to prepare laptops and equipment for several performers, whereas others had their own ideas and style to perform the samples.
the setup was designed, that ALL samples where used, although now it is hard to say, if that is true for this particular piece of music, the entry piece of the competition.
the impro was conducted by denovaire, it is our way to make music by guiding the improvisers by conduction signs.
there were several laptops in use, mostly with very simple nki and sfz bank via reaper, ableton and standalone versions as well. also in use there were a midi guitar, two ipads, a groovebox and a laptop with wii controllers.
the two singers annette giesriegl and irina karamarkovic rounded off the sonic image.
