The current Geely Emgrand is the third generation. It debuted in 2021 on the same modular BMA platform (developed by Geely and Volvo) as the Coolray: front-wheel drive, beam axle at the rear.
In terms of size, it's roughly the same size as a Toyota Corolla or Hyundai Elantra. Claimed ground clearance is 151 mm, all-wheel disc brakes, and electric power steering. Trunk capacity is 500 liters. The 1.5-liter engine (122 hp, 152 Nm) is a naturally aspirated four-cylinder. The Emgrand doesn't have any turbocharged engines.
The main difference between cars sold in Russia and those sold in China and Belarus is the classic six-speed automatic transmission instead of a continuously variable transmission. However, the standard transmission is a five-speed manual.
The new Emgrand's main competitors are the BAIC U5 Plus, Omoda S5, and JAC J7.
