Roy Orbison - Breakin' Up Is Breakin' My Heart (1966)
One of Roy's best uptempo recordings because the feel of the ballads is in the song. The beat is uptempo, but the emotion is not, and as such, it's very moving even though it's a fast song. Charted at #31 on Billboard Hot 100 in February 1966, #22 on UK Singles chart, #19 in Australia and #2 in Canada. Original Billboard review: "The composer-performer has an exciting original rhythm number loaded with dance appeal that will spiral up the chart to replace his first MGM hit, "Crawling Back"."
My note: "Ride Away" was actually Roy's first MGM hit, "Crawling Back" was the second.
Written by Roy Orbison & Bill Dees.
B-side is "Wait".
