Mr. Chandidas, a lawyer at the Calcutta Civil Court. He had a daughter named Gauribala Das. Chandidas's assistant lawyer, Mr. Aranya Kumar Chakraborty, used to visit Chandidas's house in Kolkata regularly. On this occasion, Aranya Kumar Chakraborty developed an illicit relationship with Chandidas' daughter, Gauribala. This continued day after day. As a result, Gauribala became pregnant. When Gauribala realized that she was pregnant, Gauribala pressured Aranya Kumar Chakraborty to marry her. Aranya Kumar Chakraborty did not agree to this and also denied the illicit relationship. Meanwhile, Chandidas became worried after knowing the matter. In the meantime, Gauribala gave birth to a son on 12/12/1920. He was named Devdas Chakraborty. Chandidas kept pressuring Aranya Kumar Chakraborty to take Gauribala away. But Aranya Kumar did not agree. In the meantime, Gauribala's son Devdas was 2 years old. Chandidas became depressed and fell seriously ill. Chandidas's trusted mahuri Sheikh Lutfur Rahman was from a low-class family. When Chandidas was unable to show his face in society with his daughter, when Gauribala's son Devdas was 3 years old, Chandidas' mahuri Sheikh Lutfur Rahman married Gauribala along with all Chandidas's property. Then, by affidavit, Gauribala was named Chahera Begum and the son was named Sheikh Mujibur Rahman instead of Devdas Chakraborty.
