Audio Spotlight Case - "Sound Field" an Interactive Exhibit Exploring Dementia by Arup & Bloxas
Arup, with BLOXAS Architects and DesignCouncil Singapore, co-presents ‘Sound Field’ – an art installation aimed at raising awareness about the role of sound in urban design and simulating what it might feel like to live with dementia. This immersive and interactive installation, showcased at the National Design Council in Singapore, was launched in September as a part of the Enabling Festival 2019, a three-day community festival in Singapore.
Visitors were able to swivel and reposition several Audio Spotlight directional speakers to aim sound beams towards a variety of thoughtfully selected surfaces that reflected and scattered sound throughout the exhibit space. The effect created a uniquely organic and ever-evolving sonic environment, to mimic the disorienting symptoms of living with dementia.
