The “One Day Doc Competition” held by the AOD Academy challenges students to shoot an entire short documentary in one 24-hour period. This is one of those films.
‘Ruth’ won Best Cinematography and was nominated for Best Editing and Best Film during the One Day Doc Fall 2023 competition out of 130 submissions.

Synopsis:
With food bank visits up 60% in 2023, Urban gardener Ruth Tschannen is even more determined to build community and teach her neighbours how to grow food and flowers in unconventional places. When Ruth crosses paths with Joy at the roundabout, she becomes Joy's garden mentor, encouraging her to think outside the box. Volunteers gather to celebrate Ruth and the power of plants to unite the community.
