What is the Benefit of Reciting Salawat?
Why do we recite Salawat?
Salawat means sending prayers and greetings to our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). As Muslims, sending Salawat is an important act of worship, both at the explicit command of the Quran and at the encouragement of our Prophet.
Surah Al-Ahzab – Verse 56:
“Certainly, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, send blessings upon him and greet him with complete submission.”
(Al-Ahzab, 33:56)
“The closest person to me on the Day of Resurrection will be the one who sends the most blessings upon me.”
(Tirmidhi, Salat: 352)
