As a Medical Massage Therapist, you have the unique opportunity to provide high-quality, hands-on soft tissue therapy, performing an essential role in injury rehabilitation that supports and enhances the effectiveness of medical treatment.

Treatments you can deliver to clients at risk for repetitive task injuries are valuable prevention. As are the many remedial exercises you can teach your clients to heal and maintain their own good health.

I dare say too that the emphasis we place on anatomy, physiology, and pathology will make you a better therapist.

Typically in massage school students are told to stay away from the front of the neck, the inside of the upper arm, or the abdomen because of the potential for harm.

To be thorough and get the best results for our clients, these are areas that many conditions do often require treatment to do the most for your clients.

You need to know when and how to appropriately address everything that can be addressed.

My approach to Medical Massage Therapy is to go beyond knowing just the origin insertion and action of a muscle. You need to know how to interact with the muscle, to palpate, isolate, and to put it on slack to locate trigger points and adhesions.

Only then can it be effectively treated, across the fibers, with the fibers, and with direct compression as needed. Ending with passive and/or active stretch.

That's Clinical Massage to me.

I've been collecting skills and techniques for over thirty-five years. It's been my honor to have offered what I've learned to thousands of students.

Please pick and choose what works best for you to add to your bag of tools so that you can provide your clients with the best possible relief for their pain and dysfunction.

Thanks for watching.
