Oat milk is super healthy, right?
Well if healthy means pro-inflammatory and energy depleting (at the cellular level), then yes, it's extremely healthy.
Did you know that two cups of oat milk and 1 small order of French fries provide the same amount of fat? In the form of PUFA?
Here's the problem with this:
To make Rapeseed/canola oil, the type of fat used in oat milk - the seeds go through a multistep process that heats the seeds and extracted oil to 140 degrees all the way up to 446 degrees.
And with Pufa being so fragile, it's a really effective way to damage and oxidize those fats which makes them pro-inflammatory
Add in the chemicals used to bleach and deodorize the oil, and you have a chemical bomb of fat entering your body while causing inflammation.
Oats are pretty heavily sprayed with hormone disrupting pesticides so there's that too.
Now if you compared the sugar in oat milk - Maltose, to the sugar in real milk - lactose, the glycemic index is 105 for maltose and 46 for lactose. Not good.
So if you're gonna have milk, just do the real stuff - raw milk is better too - it also won't make you fart.
