Terrazzo soap making - Fruit Salad Soapmaking - Cold Process Soap Rebatch
Terrazzo is a concept that comes from the hall of architecture and design - in this technique, colored gravel is added to white concrete. Even in soaps using this method, an interesting design result is obtained with the utilization and recycling of the existing soap.
Some rules for making soap using this method:
It is not recommended to exceed 30% recycled soap of the total new soap - that is, if you make a total of 1 kg of soap, do not exceed 300 grams of the old soap. Pieces of the old soap need a substance that will stick them well with each other and if there are too many pieces they simply won't connect and the soap will fall apart.
The calculation of the scent extract/ essential oil must be done according to a complete batch - including the old soap.
Terrazzo soap must go through a gel phase in order for the pieces of the old soap to connect to the new soap well.
It is advisable to match the color of the recycled soap to the new soap that is made for aesthetic reasons.

An example of calculating the amounts of soap for a skinny 1600 gram soap mold:
20% - 320 grams of old soap
80% - 1280 grams of new soap (based on 865 grams of oils)
The fragrance oil - according to 1600 grams of soap - 32 gr
The soap recipe - 1600 grams of soap in total - one regular skinny mold (correction was made in grams to round numbers)

Shea butter 25% - 215 gr
Cocoa butter - 5% - 45 gr
Olive oil 35% - 300 gr
Avocado oil 5% - 45 gr
