Why Shadowdark RPG is Worth Your Time
Shadowdark RPG is a not quite yet released tabletop role playing game created by the Arcane Library. It's currently still in its final stages of development and there are some pretty awesome mechanics I think you should know about.
This game feels like a modern take on the new era of OSR style ttrpg's. It's got so much of that OSR feel to it but brings the familiarity of system mechanics like that of 5e and ICRPG.
Shadowdark does some amazing things. I love its simplification of ability score tests/checks instead of all the skills that 5e D&D uses. It has an exciting and dangerous roll to cast magic system. It utilizes morale checks. It randomizes the the talents(abilities) your character gains when leveling up. And it has a solid compromise for tracking encumbrance. You can check it out for FREE here.
