To program a mini 5-axis CNC machine for wood carving, you need to understand some basic knowledge and key steps. Below is a basic guide to get you started:
1. Basic knowledge of 5-axis CNC
5-axis CNC machine configuration: A 5-axis CNC machine is capable of moving in 5 different directions: X, Y, Z axes (horizontal, vertical, and height axes), and two rotation axes (usually A and B or C axes), allowing for the machining of complex parts.
CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software: You need to use CAM software to create the CNC program. Some popular software for 5-axis CNC are Fusion 360, Mastercam, Artcam, or RhinoCAM.

G-code: CNC operates based on G-code, which is the programming language that controls CNC machine tools. G-code specifies movement commands, speed, and other parameters.

2. Preparing the 3D Model of the Statue
You need a 3D model of the wooden statue you want to carve. You can design it using software like Rhino, Blender, or you can scan a sample statue using a 3D scanner.
Export the model to a suitable format (usually STL or OBJ) to import into the CAM software.

3. Creating Toolpaths in the CAM Software
Importing the 3D Model: Open the CAM software and import the prepared 3D model.

Stock Setup: Set the dimensions and position of the wooden workpiece you will be machining.
Selecting the Tool: For wood carving machines, you will need to select the appropriate tool (usually a round or ball-end cutting tool).
Creating the Toolpath:
Define the machining steps: usually including roughing and finishing.
Optimize the toolpath to avoid collisions and ensure the workpiece is machined according to the design.
Adjust parameters such as spindle speed, feed rate, and cut depth to suit the type of wood and the size of the mini CNC machine.

4. Exporting G-Code
After setting up the toolpath, export the CNC program (G-code) from the CAM software.
Check the G-code to ensure there are no errors.

5. Loading the Program and Running the CNC Machine
Load the G-code into the CNC machine controller.
Finally check the machine parameters: origin point, workpiece position, tool position, etc.

Operating the CNC machine: Start slowly to ensure everything runs smoothly, then increase the speed as you get used to it.

6. Machining and finishing the statue
During the machining process, monitor carefully to detect and handle any errors that arise promptly.

After machining is complete, inspect the statue and finish small details manually if necessary.

7. Notes
Choosing the right cutting tools: For wood carving, the quality of the cutting tool greatly affects the sharpness and smoothness of the statue's surface.
Precise machine configuration: Because it is a mini CNC machine, the accuracy and stability may not be as high as larger machines. You need to carefully calibrate the machine before starting.

If you are already familiar with designing and making handicrafts, switching to CNC will help increase productivity and accuracy in the production process.
