Tonight at 7: Quick-Thinking Priest Saves Brooklyn Parish After Fire Sparks Emergency Mass Move
A fire at St. Catherine of Genoa Parish on Friday evening forced parishioners to hold Sunday Mass in the former school basement. The fire began during welding work on a steel beam in the parish garage, though the cause is still under investigation. Visiting priest Father Adrien Ntwa quickly noticed smoke, called 911, and firefighters managed to save the church. Parishioners expressed gratitude for Father Ntwa, and Bishop Robert Brennan’s visit comforted the community amid the damage.
