Set a timestamp function in Excel to force an exact time into a cell

If you need to get an automatic timestamp on entry into a cell the now command is useful but it then changes every time another cell is updated. If you need to hold onto the timestamp for each cell then you need this routine with iteration set on. If you get a circular reference warning it means you haven't got the iterations options ticked in the Formula section of Excel options. Make sure you tick it. You may need to do that again in the future if Excel updates in the background. see also    • Excel recording of attendance using iterat...
