As some of you might know we toured Europe with Avatar and Veil of Maya in March. It was one of the greatest experiences in my life. Everybody on that tour was incredible !
We used to set up my drums while Veil of Maya were soundchecking. You can't imagine how inspiring it was for us to see these amazing musicians perform everyday. Sam is not only a killer drummer but a super nice and humble guy as well. He taught me so much during this tour. It was amazing to learn from him during these 3 weeks.
The band was playing that song everyday during the soundcheck and I started to learn a bit of the accents and structure of the song during the tour. When we got back home I started listening to it on repeat. I decided to try it and almost got the full song in an hour. Only problem was that riff at 1:52. That took me way longer.
I'm actually really happy with this cover. I think it looks and sounds better than anything I did before. As always no edits or whatsoever so definitely kept a couple mistakes and imprecisions here and there. But happy with the overall result. I did this one in one take only !
