Milling 6061 Aluminum with the Shapeoko 3. I created a basic coaster design in Fusion 360 and then I saved the design as an STL for 3D printing and created tool paths in Fusion 360 to mill the project on my Shapeoko 3. I ended up printing the design in PETG on my Da Vinci Pro 3D printer, milling the design in aluminum, and then milling the design out of hardwood. The 3D printing took the longest at around 3.5 hours, the aluminum was around 50 minutes, and the hardwood took about 18 minutes once the wood was faced down to .325 inches. I wanted to test my machines and their accuracy and all three coasters are nearly identical in dimensions. Milling and 3D printing both have advantages and disadvantages and this was just a fun simple project. I learned a lot from watching @winstonmoy and I noticed he just got into 3D printing. I used Inland PETG for the printing and it is my favorite PETG I have found. I have mainly been using PETG because of its strength and ease of printing.
