As mentioned, Pipeline started slow this winter, but has been been making up for lost time over the past couple weeks or so, with a series of good to really good days over the holidays. Today, another solid northwest swell is slamming the Islands, just in time for any tuberiding related New Year’s resolutions. And because we we know one gets WAY more waves mindsurfing Pipe than actually attempting to ride it — we’re gonna stream the action live, in 4K HD, as long as it’s good. We HIGHLY suggest casting this stream to your TV. (As well as making sure your YouTube viewer settings are set to 4K/2160p.)
Surfline’s Director of Forecasting Kevin Wallis breaks down the day: “A big northwest swell is slamming the islands today, courtesy of a recent low in the western North Pacific. Surf will be pumping all day for Oahu’s North Shore but should see a peak in waves around late morning through the early afternoon. Pipe is likely going to be maxed out at times, with wash through sets from Third Reef. But there will be some gems in the mix as well. Tradewinds will be light and from an ideal direction,: ESE, which is straight offshore at Pipe. A light sea breeze is at least possible for the mid afternoon, before light offshore winds likely return again an hour or so before sundown.”
