When several gynoids – female sex robots – malfunction and cause customers’ deaths, Batou and Togusa are sent to investigate the gynoid company LOCUS SOLUS. Soon they uncover a plot that involves hacking and homicide, as well as a practice called “ghost-dubbing”, which imbues the gynoids with human souls.
