Exploring the most populated prison in Peru
We visited the Lurigancho Penitentiary and were given access to learn about the experiences of the more than 10,000 inmates who live in the *MOST CROWDED Prison in Peru*. Filming this video at the Lurigancho Penitentiary was a challenge because we had to obtain all the necessary authorizations.
The Lurigancho Penitentiary is overcrowded because it has a capacity for 5,000 inmates and houses twice that many. It is located in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho in Lima, Peru.
