There's Always a Bigger Fish!! Battling a Goliath for a Grouper
The video is pretty bad as I was just filming fish all day with my GoPro in one hand and my speargun in the other. Then at the end of my last dive this big gag came out of the wreck. I had to switch the camera into the other hand to shoot. I had a great shot on him, but then a Goliath grouper decided it was his. He swallowed the gag and took off with my spear and started spooling line. I was struggling to stay at the surface, hold my GoPro, fight to hold onto my gun and get my knife out at the same time. you can see the Goliath on the bottom for a second or two before it takes off. he broke my 1200lbs spectra line off on the wreck. I lost a lot of line, my spear, and worst of all, my fish. but luckily I didn't lose my line or worse, get wrapped up in it. it's a potentially deadly situation.
