Once, when I asked, "What's the difference between a switch and a router?" a student quite clearly explained: "A switch switches, and a router routes—that's the difference."

It's hard to argue, but it's possible: we have switches that route—Layer 3 switches. Frankly, I've avoided talking about them in class to avoid confusing the minds of newbies, but I think for the next video, we can lift the veil on computer networking and discuss an important part of the world of corporate information systems.

And so, here we go.

In short, we've tried to show in one video how to launch a VLAN, configure routing, and, most importantly, activate the PAT port forwarding service—all in one device. It's already scary, but we're looking at the command line to overcome our fears, where we enter the magic spells of configurations...
