Hey guys! Your boy's back at it again with another Lore Accurate Dante video! This time, featuring the legendary Devil May Cry 2 Dante! You know I just had to include him for the third part in this series! Considering I already used DMC1 and 3 Dante for the previous videos. It's nice to give DMC2 some love here.
DMC2 might've had its issues, but Dante's SSStylishly sick fit was not one of them! Seriously! It's astonishing to see that no matter the DMC game, Capcom just doesn't miss with Dante's design. His DMC2 fit is easily one of my favorites of all time. The game honestly had some redeeming factors, too! It still retained the gothic aesthetic and atmosphere that DMC is usually known for in some areas, along with a badass soundtrack.
The song you're hearing comes from DMC2's original soundtrack, called, "Heads or Tails (Staff Roll)"! Easily my favorite song from the game. It also paved the way for future installments with introductions to moves that would later be implemented into Dante's styles! Like Fireworks, Rainstorm, Twosome Time, emphasis on aerial combat, wall running, etc.! So yeah. It definitely wasn't all bad, and I do have a soft spot for the game.
Considering I also grew up with it and its apart of my childhood. The coolness factor for Dante never left in DMC2, and like the back of the box art said, it's "Cooler than Hell!" Somehow, Capcom retconning the DMC timeline so 2 takes place after 1 and the anime just made everything so much better. His attitude, cold demeanor and personality makes way more sense now. Man lost his brother.
DMC2 Dante transitioned extremely well in DMC5's graphics engine. I know some fans tend to prefer DMC's stylized anime-esque graphics, and that's totally fine, but I personally prefer DMC5's art style. It really reminds me of the CGI artwork of Dante in the DMC2 guidebook, while helping me envision what this larger than life character would look like in our world. And he looks fuckin' glorious.
