A white and black swan
Gliding over a lake,
Saw them merge into One
At the break of the day.
Such a peaceful lake
Before the world awakes.
Nothing to upset the quiet surface,

Two swans gliding along
The surface of a lake.
Seeming so peaceful,
Yet so much at stake!
Soon the world will wake up
And rush to the lake.
What before was asleep,

The feathers of the white one
Were whiter than the snow.

After the storms.
Black swan trailing along,
People throwing their rocks,
Disturbing the placid surface
That was there all along …
The light suddenly changes,
The Sun hides behind the hill.
What seemed dark and bleak,
Is now soft and meek.
Light hits a different angle,
Exposing the order of things.
The two swans exchanging
Their watery rings.
When the day and the night
No longer fight over who is right,
A certain kind of light
Reveals its might.
There never were two swans,
There was just the Lake,
People throwing their rocks,
Upsetting their wake ...
