Race Relations Day Panel 2024
On Race Relations Day (March 21) Te Kāhui Tika Tangata Human Rights Commission hosted a webinar. In acknowledgement of the fifth anniversary of the March 15 terrorist attacks in Christchurch the panel discussed the role of religion and faith in bringing about racial harmony in Aotearoa New Zealand. The theme for Race Relations Day in 2024 was Kia tapatahi – Building safer and united communities together.
Our panelists are:
Andre Afamasaga – Samoan, Christian and Rainbow. An ex-pastor, Andre is a leader and speaker on human rights and social cohesion.
Golriz Lucina Gundry – Iranian, Armenian and Baha’i. New York Times bestseller and co-founder of SoulPancake, which uses storytelling to connect hearts and create a shared vision for the future of humanity.
Tahirah Moton – Muslim, Ngāti Maniapoto, Pakistani. Tahirah has a background in public health and advocacy and is passionate about Indigenous self-determination.
