Friday Night Funkin' is an open-source rhythm game first released as a demo in 2020 for a game jam. The game is developed by a small group called The Funkin' Crew Inc., with the four founding members being the Newgrounds users David "PhantomArcade" Brown, Cameron "ninjamuffin99" Taylor, Isaac "Kawai Sprite" Garcia, and evilsk8r. The game shares some gameplay features with Dance Dance Revolution and PaRappa the Rapper and borrows aesthetic influences from Flash games. The game has driven users back to Newgrounds, a site whose popularity peaked in the early 2000s.
The game mainly revolves around the player character, Boyfriend, who must defeat various characters in singing and rapping contests to continue dating his love interest, Girlfriend. The gameplay revolves around hitting notes with timed inputs while avoiding running out of health for the song's duration.
The game was initially created for the Ludum Dare 47 game jam on October 5, 2020. An expanded demo was released on November 1, 2020, with updates being released in the following months. A full version backed on Kickstarter titled Friday Night Funkin': The Full Ass Game is in development.
Lunchly faced substantial criticism on various social media platforms from skeptics who questioned the marketing tactics and nutritional quality of the lunch kit. Several prominent YouTubers, including DanTDM, iBallisticSquid, Zeltik, Doctor Mike, and Rosanna Pansino, have voiced concerns about the promotion of processed foods to young audiences. These critics have questioned both the nutritional value of the product and the motivations behind its creation. Notably, YouTuber DanTDM expressed his disapproval of Lunchly by stating, "This is selling crap to kids who don't know better than to trust the people who are selling it to them
