Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked visited the Babylonian Jewish Heritage Center with her father, brother, and other family members. The center's chairman, Prof. Ephraim Tzedaka, and the director general, Ronit Azouri, accompanied the minister and the guests on a short tour of the museum's exhibitions, which they were very impressed by. In her remarks on stage at the "Preserving the Iraqi Language" Facebook group event, the minister spoke about her grandmother, who immigrated to Israel from Iraq with her family in the 1950s, about her unique personality, and the legacy she passed on to her.

The "Babylonian Jewish Heritage Museum" opens a window to the magnificent heritage of antiquity in postcards and presents chapters in the history of Babylonian Jews for their generations over more than two thousand eight hundred years. The museum has a historical wing that tells the story of the community and an ethnographic wing that presents the way of life of the Jews in Iraq, their customs, lifestyle, art and material culture.
The Babylonian Jewry Museum was established in 1973 to preserve the history of the Jewish community in Iraq and ensure that it remains part of the future narrative of the Jewish people. Or Yehuda is a natural location for the center, because it grew up on the site of one of the largest transits into Israel for immigrants who made aliyah in 1950-1951 from Iraq and other Middle Eastern countries. To this end, the center fosters research, preservation and publication.
The Babylonian Jewry Museum opens a window to the glorious and oldest heritage in the Diaspora and presents episodes in the history of the Jews of Babylon over the generations for more than two thousand and eight hundred years. The Historical section of the Museum tells the story of the community and the Ethnographic department shows the way of life of the Jews in Iraq, customs, manners, art and other material representing the culture.
The Babylonian Jewry Heritage Center was founded in 1973 to perpetuate the history and culture of the Jewish community of Iraq and ensure that it remains part of the future narrative of the Jewish people. Or Yehuda was a natural location for the Center, as the city - whose name means the "Light of Judah" - sprung up from what was one of the largest immigrant transit camps for Iraqi and other Jews of Middle Eastern origin after their arrival in 1950-1951. The Center fosters research, preservation, and publicity around this mission.
