In this video, I walk through how to use Excel to calculate sheet metal scrap area after parts have been nested on a large sheet. I start by setting up columns for sheet area, part area, quantity, and total area for three different parts. I then demonstrate how to input the part areas (which I got from AutoCAD) and set up the multiplication formula to get the total area required for each part quantity. Crucially, I show the final formula to calculate scrap by subtracting the total area of all parts from the initial sheet area. This helps us quickly see how changing the quantity of each part affects the remaining scrap, which is essential for optimizing material usage in sheet metal fabrication.
