In this video, I provide general modeling advice and demonstrate how to apply it to several different parts. I recommend a few rules to help make your designs easier to edit and fix, such as keeping each sketch simple with fewer than eight pieces of geometry, and using dedicated features for things like holes and fillets instead of sketching them. I then walk through how to approach several exercises, including how to visualize a 3D part from a 2D drawing and how to use a single complex sketch with a revolve feature to create a part with multiple diameters. Finally, I show how to use the mirror feature to create symmetrical parts and highlight the benefits of using a symmetric extrude to keep the origin centered on your part.
