China Revealed A New Car That Shakes The Entire Car Industry
BYD, currently one of the largest automakers in the world, has unveiled the "Han EV." The BYD Han EV is a midsize luxury electric car that promises an extended driving range on a single charge and performance akin to that of a sports car. This vehicle is available for purchase globally, with the notable exceptions of Canada and the United States. (Who knows when you might see the BYD Han on your street? Perhaps very soon!) In addition to the fully electric model, BYD also offers the Han as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). This version uses both a conventional petrol engine and an electric motor to extend the driving range.
BYD has sold over 500,000 units of both the plug-in hybrid and full battery-electric variants of the Han luxury sedan. The Han EV also earned the prestigious 2021 iF Design Award, making it the first sedan from China to achieve this distinction.
The BYD Han EV competes in the same class as other luxury vehicles, such as the Tesla Model 3, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6, BMW i5, Hyundai Ioniq 6, and Polestar 2. These cars are renowned for their long driving ranges, powerful road performance, and luxurious interiors, with each offering a distinctive design that sets it apart from other brands.
The BYD Han EV distinguishes itself with a sleek and curved design that appeals to both young and older drivers. It features a robust, well-sculpted body from the front to the rear, with a smooth center section of the trunk that flows seamlessly from the windshield down to the silver-chrome BYD logo, which connects the two headlights. The car’s increased height at the striking "Chinese dragon mustache" grille blends with the air intakes on the sides, while the fine lines on the front bumper help reduce wind resistance to a drag coefficient of just 0.233.
