Here is a more detailed description of our 8 month break:
Why not talk about this in the video?
We wanted to make this video as short as possible so we could release it as soon as we could (only taking 8 months, so very fast).
Why did you stop development on Invandence?
As our fan base grew, the pressure increased to make the perfect game. It was already going to be tough making a realistic open world game, but the pressure added to our to-do list and increased our scope. This made the game seem unfinishable, which decreased our motivation. We decided that we should work on another project to regain motivation and learn along the way.
The Chess Game:
We decided that we would make a chess game where if you took a piece, you would fight the other player to actually take the piece on the board. We started off with a small scope, but as ideas came in, the scope increased, and once again the game seemed unfinishable. We slowed our development to a crawl, and it took us a while to realize that we had once again fallen victim to low motivation. We decided that if we wanted to work on a larger project, we actually had to complete smaller projects first.
Today
These small projects will be hard to fully collaborate on, so we are all deciding to make our own games, but helping each other out along the way. We will help each other with programming, art, music, sound effects, while still focusing on our own game so development will be speedy. We will be releasing devlogs and updates to these games here on YouTube, as well as our TikTok and Discord! These are the games we are currently working on, but these are subject to change:
Scorched:
Scavenge for resources with your team to build giant mechs and fight other players. Take control of your mech with your team or combat other players on the ground with a wild arsenal.
Dash Shooters (Name WIP):
A fast paced racing game, with dashes, sliding physics, and the ability to shoot obstacles to keep running. Get to the end before the opponents!
Screambox:
A game where you can only move by firing your gun. Fight your friends while jumping through the air with the custom movement!
Blocky:
A simplistic yet challenging platformer.
