This is number 4 in the Asexuality Top 10: The most common responses people give me when I say "I'm asexual." Instead of believing I'm telling the truth about having no sex drive, many people prefer to suggest one of these ten "better explanations." This video series is to address each of these common misconceptions.
Number 4: YOU WERE SEXUALLY ABUSED addresses the possibility that my lack of interest stems from trauma. This idea suggests that being uninterested in sex is so horrifying that I must have been brutalized in order to not want it. Here I explain the difference between trauma-induced negative impressions and just plain disinterest.
