The knight Giorgiovat, aided by his faithful servant, the Saracen Omar, travels to Rome to capture his beloved virgin Candizza and elope with her. The two lovers are surprised by Anastasia, her mother, and transformed into pillars of salt. To break the spell, the reincarnations of the two must meet and unite a thousand years later in the same room where the statues are located on the first night of the full moon at midnight. This moment marks the beginning of the thousandth year of the spell, but Candizza's soul must remain pure until then.
