HORSE WITH PANIC about transport
A six-year-old Hanoverian mare refuses to be transported in a trailer.
The owner tells us that it has become increasingly difficult to get her in the trailer:
-The first time she got in fine.
-The second time it was more difficult and they had to hit her with a riding crop.
-The third time it was even more difficult and they had to give her a sedative.
-The fourth time she also had to be given a tranquilizer.
After that, they gave up and stopped transporting her to competitions.
It is becoming clear that the problem worsens with each attempt instead of improving.
It's important to emphasize that, regardless of a horse's genetics or skill level in its sport, its economic value will be minimal if it can't leave its current facility to compete and win, to be taken out to cover mares (if a stallion) or to be covered (if a mare), to win conformation shows, and so on.
Despite all this, one of the most frequent problems Guillón addresses daily is horses' fear of trailers. This is completely understandable given that horses are naturally claustrophobic, and humans are naturally impatient and aggressive.
