This is a recording of an event from Self Management Week 2024, an annual events series hosted by the ALLIANCE. This recording, from 24 September, was from an event called 'ALISS in Action', hosted by Amber Sharif, ALISS Engagement Officer at The ALLIANCE, and with presentations from Barbara Flynn, Development Officer and Cillian Dwyer, Digital Links Worker, also from The ALLIANCE. Through ALISS, Amber supports and enables citizens, professionals, communities, and organisations to share and maintain information about local assets and resources, helping support communities to collectively gather and share information. Cillian leads the Digital Links Project in Glasgow. He works with individuals who have poor mental health who are experiencing digital exclusion to support them to become more skilled and confident in accessing digital health and social care supports, such as ALISS. Barbara works to develop understanding of self management and the difference self management can make in people’s lives, through engagement with ALLIANCE and Self Management Network Scotland members. This has a particular focus during Self Management Week, held in September each year, and in which Barbara plays a leading role.

Self Management Week, the ALLIANCE's annual Self Management Celebration, is a national awareness raising initiative highlighting self management activity across Scotland. Self management refers to a way of living and working that means people living with long term conditions feel more in control of their health and wellbeing. The Self Management Programme has long been an area of partnership working between the ALLIANCE and the Scottish Government, most notably via the Self Management Fund which the ALLIANCE administers on behalf of the Scottish Government.
