On April 20, 2023 parts of the Pacific and Indian Ocean regions experienced a rare type of event called a hybrid solar eclipse. A hybrid solar eclipse is a rare type of solar eclipse that changes its appearance from annular solar eclipse to a total solar eclipse and back again as the moon's shadow moves across the Earth's surface.
The next annular AND total solar eclipse will be visible from the United States.
First up is an annular solar eclipse on October 14, 2023 followed by the main event: a total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.
