Priit Vesilind (1943-2023). Long version
Priit Vesilind (1943-2023) talks about his family's escape from Estonia in 1944. He recalls the journey to Czechoslovakia, their life in a DP camp in Germany after World War II as well as emigration to the United States.
He worked as a photographer and journalist, later as an editor and senior writer for the internationally known magazine National Geographic from 1973 until 2002, where in the April 1980 issue he published his famous photo report "Return to Estonia" from the occupied Estonia.
In 2004, Priit published the book "Eestlane igas sadamas" ("An Estonian in every port") based on the photos he had taken during his career as a journalist.

Priit Vesilind (1943-2023) jutustab oma pere põgenemisest Eestist 1944. aastal. Ta meenutab teekonda Tšehhoslovakkiasse, elu ühes DP-laagris Saksamaal Teise maailmasõja järel ja emigreerumist USA-sse.
1973.-2002. a töötas ta rahvusvaheliselt tuntud ajakirjas National Geographic, mille 1980. a aprilli numbris ilmus tema kuulsaks saanud fotoreportaaž "Return to Estonia" okupeeritud Eestist.
2004. a avaldas Priit raamatu "Eestlane igas sadamas", mille keskmes olid tema ajakirjaniku karjääri jooksul tehtud pildid.
