Sony TA-5650 VFET Amplifier Service and Restoration
Being the first VFET amplifier I’ve worked on, this Sony had a few issues that needed to be fixed. Added to the restoration that was also needed, it ended up being a very comprehensive task. VFET amplifiers are a rare breed, and require specialized care to get working properly. This Sony was no different. There are many modifications and service bulletins that were done to guarantee the stability and working condition of this amplifier for the next few decades.
