Werner Mantz (1901-1983) has a worldwide reputation as one of the great architectural photographers of his time. When he opened a studio in Maastricht, he not only attracted commissions for architectural photography, but also became well-known as a portrait photographer. In 1984, a fire in Werner Mantz’s studio that seriously damaged a large part of his photo collection. In Archive Dive #9 our conservator Katrin Pietsch tells us how she was able to restore and save a part of these photographs.
