NEW SCAQMD Ultra Low Nox Requirement

Starting September 30, 2021, the South Coast AQMD will require Ultra-Low NOx emission standards of 14 ng/J or less for all weatherized furnace installations in AQMD territories.
This applies to all rooftop units, less than 65,000 BTUH in cooling, with gas heating, in either single or three-phase power.
After this date, the SCAQMD will not accept installations of standard LOW NOX units, FIVE (5) TONS, and under, and there will be no sell-through period for the manufacturer's existing stock.
In addition, it is our understanding that substantial penalties will be charged for installations that do not meet the new emission standards.
In response to this ruling, York has developed a new Ultra-Low NOx heater that will be available in models PCG4 for residential and ZYG for commercial, 5-ton and under, gas/electric units.
Other models, such as the Sun Pro and Sunline, will not be available with this option.
