Two weeks back on the bike after a four month hiatus. 5 kilos heavier and much less fit, I am doing ZRS D (180-350) and I am gradually getting better.
12 large field, thinned to 6-7 riders after the start. After the first lap's climb there were only three of us let in the front. Looked like I had an advantage on the climb but then I was getting caught before the downhill starts. The main rival was a light rider that seemed to be pedalling constantly hard but did not have a strong kick.
From the three of us, one rider attacked on the flat part and got caught before the final climb. I gained 20+ metres on the final climb and but the light, diesel rider caught up with me just before the downhill. She/he looks like new to racing. They wasted so much energy pedalling downhill and leading me into the final sprint.
I put a modest acceleration with 150 metres to go and easily got the sprint.
0:03 Start

18:54 Early attack by one the three remaining riders
