CIPS WEBINAR SERIES - Understanding Social Procurement with Mark Daniels & Jo Tabit
Social procurement is increasingly on the procurement agenda. This session provides an introduction to social procurement, covering what it is and why business and government are doing it.
The webinar will also hear from a social enterprise about what they do which will segue into the social breadth of the social enterprise marketplace.
**BIO** Mark Daniels is the Executive Director of Buyer Services at Social Traders. He has worked in the field since 2001 and over that time he has procured from social enterprise, run social enterprises, lobbied for social enterprise and helped found Social Traders – Australia’s leading social enterprise development organisation.
Mark’s work now centres on enabling government and business buyers to build social enterprises into their supply chains. Social Traders market place has enabled 70 business and government buyer members to work with over 330 certified social enterprises, in FY18 & 19 the Social Traders marketplace enabled over 700 disadvantaged job-seekers to find jobs in social enterprises and many more social impacts.
**BIO** Jo Tabit is the Senior Manager, Given the Chance suite of programs - Employment with Social Impact for the Brotherhood of St Laurence.
Jo also created what was then the largest employment and advocacy program for people seeking asylum, “Given the Chance for Asylum Seekers”, funded from 2012 to 2017 by a single private philanthropist. The program supported 545 jobseekers into work and achieved a rate of 68% for job retention to 26 weeks.
Jo currently manages three Jobs Victoria Employment Network Programs for diverse jobseekers in Melbourne's Whittlesea, Dandenong and Flemington, and the Given the Chance Social Enterprise incorporating a Group Training Organization, and supported labour hire programs for a range of partner employers such as ANZ, Citywide, John Holland, Parks Victoria and the Cities of Melbourne and Yarra.
