While living out of my Jeep JLUR while out exploring the American landscape, I find it essential to have a backup water filtration system for drinking water, cleaning, and for cooking, etc.,.
In this video I show how I use the MSR Guardian and two Nalgene 1000 ml bottles with the "wide mouth" openings to gather water on the Colorado River while in Moab, Utah. I've use the MSR Guardian now for several years and trhe only hiccup I found was a small pin hole on one tubes close to the filter housing. To fix it I cut away the pin hole area and reconnected to the main filter housing. No more leak!
I mainly carry with me two Lifesaver Jerrycans. You would think it overkill but it's not when your in high 90's and sun baking you dry. Shade is your friend!
I use the two nalgene bottles of water for small cooking and hot coffee. I can't live without my coffee: even in Utah's 'DUNE' like weather.
