COROT, LANDSCAPE PAINTER
He completed his secondary studies in the Gothic and Norman city of Rouen between 1807 and 1812. These studies profoundly influenced him, as he met a friend named Sennegon, a reader of Jean-Jacques Rousseau and sympathetic to Enlightenment ideas, from whom he acquired a love of nature.
He continued his education in Poissy, and upon graduating, expressed his desire to become a painter. However, his father opposed this and employed him as an apprentice in the family business. Camille, however, dedicated his workday to drawing, so the family eventually accepted his vocation and financed his artistic training.
