Popular for container gardening, grow bags are being increasingly sold to home gardeners limited on garden space. Typically made with recycled plastic water bottles, these sound good in theory--but is the truth so rosy?
There are a couple of issues with the popular grow bags made from plastic fibers in the garden. One, is microplastic shedding. The other, is contamination with toxic chemicals like dioxins and pthalates, which can leach into soil and end up in our food. So, is this an issue with grow bags?
