Paulie, the second youngest, is the only Owlet who remains in the House. Since owls are nocturnal Paulie spends Daytime resting, stretching, preening and waiting for the time the Siblings will return. He Gets Food at night either by stepping outside and getting food the parent brings, or by the Siblings bringing food to him/her in the House. As the Siblings disburse Paulie will have to step up. Mom and dad may continue bringing food for a while but eventually mom will force him out of the House. Of the owl types the Barn owls are the slowest to progress and because of this they are more lenient about letting the Owlets stay a little longer. The time frame can vary from extra weeks to in some instances months. At this point we have to hope Paulie has the ability to care for himself.
-unfortunately over the months the camera lens has become occluded but we still are able to see enough to enjoy the clips.
We are happy each night to see the owlets at the house and to see how bonded they are with each other.
I have some trouble telling them apart because we are seeing them mostly in black and white, and there is some over exposure with the camera. Also the sizes vary depending on where they stand on the perch.
We are still enjoying that Owlets are still here, and we are seeing how the brooding season progresses. We are also preparing ourselves for the time they move on.
