Though much of Slavic mythology has been lost to the effects of time, colonization, and religious conversion, many of the surviving pieces center upon Perun, the axe wielding god of thunder, war, and justice. The epitome of a warrior king, Perun watches over the worlds of the gods and mortals like an eagle perched atop a great oak.
