Tutorial: Step-by-step instructions for finishing Coorie tartan
Coorie shawl features an eye-catching tartan. You'll knit the horizontal colours throughout the shawl and finish the vertical colours by hand once she's off your needles.
After experimenting with a variety of methods, I settled on a low-profile back-stitch worked as follows:
Using a backstitch and working over 2 purl bars at a time, stitch Colour B into the double purl channels and Colour C into the single purl channels.
If desired, backstitch Colour C behind the Colour B bar on Colour B rows to create a layered effect.
Weave in ends, and if desired, steam the backstitch to set the stitches in place.
