Made as a Biology assignment. Making it public because I'm proud of this.
LYRICS:
This is a story about the genetic code
Applies to everything from human
Decides colour of the eyes, weight, shape, and size
All with nucleotides, ain’t that real nice?
To understand how this structure was found
The double helix structure, turning around
There are four scientists that helped find
The way this natural wonder will wind.
Francis Crick from the “land of the Tea”
James Watson from the “land of the Free”
Rosalind Franklin, women in STEM
Maurice Wilkins, worked with the femme
The former two worked with sticks and balls
The latter two used X-ray, looking through walls
Hard at work researching for many-a-day
Discovered the double helix that we know today
Watson originally made a mistake
And people could’ve taken him as a fake
He misremembered a point that was key
And made a structure with strands three.
“Photograph 51” cleared all the haze
With patterns formed from bouncing rays
Faint “X” in the middle of the frame
Put all the other claims to shame!

DNA is made up of nucleotides
Each 2 copies, one on each side
4 bases: A, T, C, and G
Can code for anything you need to be
The double helix structure of DNA
Has the same purpose as a RAID array
If one of the strands does get corrupted
Life processes will not be disrupted.
This structure will also preside
When a somatic cell decides to divide
Split the strand right into 2 sides
And rebuild a copy, slice by slice!
Going round and round in the nucleus’ space
DNA is like a tall spiral staircase
Railings on both sides, just in case
All to decide the look of your face!
Existence, happiness, anger, pain
All because of this polynucleotide chain
Every time you have nothing to do
Admire the molecules that make you!!!
